The Youth Environment Assembly (YEA) 2025 convened from November 29-30, 2025, just prior to the seventh session of UNEA (UNEA-7). The main theme was "Advancing sustainable solutions for a resilient planet," mirroring the UNEA-7 focus.
The core objectives of the interactive assembly were three-fold:
Youth Advocacy in UNEA-7: To facilitate meaningful youth engagement in policy discussions, culminating in the Global Youth Declaration on Environment.
Capacity Building: To empower young participants with the necessary knowledge and skills for effective environmental governance through specialized workshops and training.
Collaboration & Network-Building: To foster strong global partnerships among youth, policymakers, and key stakeholders.
The event featured representation from various organizations, including the Environmental Action Alliance (EAA), represented by Mark Davis. The Assembly was officially opened by Ababu Namwamba, the Kenya Ambassador to the United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON). This platform was crucial for youths and children to learn and interact, strengthening their collective voice for environmental action on a global stage.
