Environmental Action Alliance was honoured to attend the 2025 national food systems summit on 15th and 16th April at Nairobi Safari Park Hotel the organisation was represented by our founder Mark Davis , project manager, jane kamau, and our members,festus and kemunto this was a review of the 2021 UN Food Systems Summit (UNFSS), convened by the UN Secretary-General,
ushered in the emergence of a new narrative for sustainable food systems as a
key lever for the Sustainable Development Goals. This was localized into 5 food
systems transformation pathways in Kenya: diversified diets, climate resilience,
youth and women empowerment, digitalization, and finance.
The 2025 National Food Systems Stocktaking Forum aimed in assessing overall
progress, accomplishments, lessons learned, challenges, and potential solutions
along the five key national pathways for transforming agri-food systems in Kenya.
This event also focused on strengthening accountability and unlocking
investments for food systems transformation. It builds momentum towards the
Africa Regional Food Systems Summit in May in Nairobi and the global Summit in
July in Addis Ababa.
The theme was : Build prosperity through inclusive, innovative,
collaborative and dynamic food systems, which are
based on data-driven decisions to ensure access
to diverse diets from climate resilient production
in every region of the country.
It was an honour to interact with world vision, our daughter kagwiria koome who is the manager Rockerfeller foundation and also Stella food for education where we will have a conversation with department of education county government to see how the feeding program can work effectively in all schools through the support of this two organisations.
